Abstract

Effective production scheduling is a key factor in improving the operational efficiency of manufacturing companies. This study aims to analyze the application of the Run Out Time (ROT) method in multi-product production scheduling at PT Elang Jagad, a metal manufacturing company facing the challenges of demand fluctuations and high setup times. The ROT method is used to determine production priorities based on the ratio between the amount of inventory and the average demand per period. Historical data on demand, production capacity, and operational time were collected for six months for analysis. The results showed that the application of the ROT method was able to reduce setup time and idle time, increase machine utilization, and reduce operational costs. The cost efficiency achieved was IDR 75,500,000 in six months, with a Return on Investment (ROI) of 196.08% and a Payback Period of two months. These findings indicate that the ROT method is effective in optimizing production scheduling, ensuring timely fulfillment of customer demand without overproduction or underproduction. Thus, the application of ROT not only improves operational efficiency but also strengthens the competitiveness of PT Elang Jagad in a competitive market.
