Abstract

Social anxiety can be defined as the experience of fear, anxiety or worry about social situations and fear of being evaluated by peers and others. Teenagers who are victims of bullying on average will experience several behavioral changes, namely, loss of self-confidence, social withdrawal, fear, anxiety, stress, depression, and social anxiety. Internal factors such as assertive behavior and self-regulation are thought to play a role in reducing the social anxiety of victims of bullying in high school students. This study aims to determine the relationship between assertive behavior and self-regulation with social anxiety of victims of bullying in high school students. The population of this study was 127 with a sample of 101 students from one of the Muhammadiyah Surabaya high schools selected using Quota Sampling. Data were obtained through a social anxiety scale, assertive behavior scale, and self�regulation scale that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression to test the relationship between the variables studied. The results of this study indicate if there is no significant relationship between assertive behavior and self-regulation with social anxiety (F-value= 0.553 with a significance of 0.577 (p> 0.05)). This finding indicates that there is still an opportunity for other researchers to explore the relationship between these variables.
