Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between loneliness and Nomophobia in High School Students. The approach in this study is a quantitative approach with a correlation research type. Nomophobia is a modern phobia, someone who experiences fear, anxiety, discomfort and even excessive fear if not connected to a Smartphone. Loneliness is an unpleasant feeling because of having few and unsatisfying relationships. The subjects of this study were 223 students of High School "X" Surabaya and used propotional sampling techniques. Data collection was carried out using the loneliness and Nomophobia scales. The data analysis method used Pearson Product Moment. The results showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between loneliness and Nomophobia in High School students. This is based on the results of the r Product Moment correlation calculation, where rxy = 0.223 with a significance of p = 0.001 <0.05 meaning that the proposed hypothesis is accepted, the higher the loneliness, the higher the Nomophobia and vice versa the lower the loneliness, the lower the Nomophobia is stated to be accepted. The effective contribution of loneliness affects Nomophobia by 5%.
