Abstract

Academic stress is mental pressure characterized by conscious or unconscious feelings of frustration related to failure. Academic stress can also be defined as a mental pressure related to anticipated feelings of frustration related to academic failure or even awareness of the possibility of such failure. The hypothesis proposed is that there is a negative relationship between emotional regulation and social support and academic stress in high school students. This research design was carried out on 233 students who were students at the "X" Surabaya high school. The instrument used in this research was an academic stress scale according to the researcher's own creation. The emotional regulation scale in this study was adapted using theory from (Suhadianto, et al., 2021) and the social support scale according to the researcher's own creation. This research uses multiple correlation analysis. This data analysis was carried out with the help of the Statistical Package For The Social Sciences (SPSS) program for Windows version 26. Based on the results of data analysis through multiple regression analysis using the help of the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) program version 25. Statistical analysis of the relationship between emotional regulation variables and simultaneous social support for academic stress obtained a value of F = 6.843 with a significance of 0.001 < 0.01, which means there is a significant negative relationship between emotional regulation and social support and academic stress.
