Abstract

The tendency to procrastinate on schoolwork can have negative impact on academic achievement, especially among adolescents who face challenges in building academic self-efficacy and managing the intensity of social media use. This study aims to determine the relationship between academic self-efficacy and the intensity of social media use with academic procrastination in high school students. This study uses a quantitative research type using a correlational method. The sampling technique in this study used the proportional sampling technique with a sample of 233 students of SMA X in Surabaya. The results of multiple regression analysis show a relationship between academic self-efficacy and the intensity of social media use simultaneously with academic procrastination (obtaining an F value = 52.727 with a significance of 0.000 <0.05 meaning that simultaneously academic self-efficacy and the intensity of social media use can be significant positive predictors for academic procrastination. The results of the partial test show a significant negative relationship between academic self-efficacy and academic procrastination. The results of the partial test show a significant negative relationship between the intensity of social media use and academic procrastination, meaning that the hypothesis in this study is rejected.
