Abstract
The Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) is a country known as an archipelagic country equipped with various cultures, tribes, races, customs and traditions that are different for each of its existing communities. One example of the cultural differences that Indonesia has is related to wedding customs that are strong with local regional culture, one of which is carried out in East Nusa Tenggara where a wedding requires a belis or dowry. This research aims to determine the relationship between resilience and self-esteem and the quality of life of wives who are married to belis. The subjects of this research were 267 wives who married with Belis in Maulafa District, Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara. The sampling technique used is cluster random sampling. Data collection was carried out by filling out a booklet directly by the married wife with a belis containing measuring instruments made by the researcher. The measuring instruments in this research are (1) Quality of Life Scale (48 items; α=0.958), (2) Resilience Scale (34 items; α=0.937), (3) Self-esteem scale (22 items; α=0.921). The data analysis used is Spearman Brown analysis. The results show that there is a significant positive relationship between resilience and quality of life. The higher the resilience, the higher the quality of life of the married wife. There is a significant positive relationship between self-esteem and quality of life. The higher the self-esteem, the higher the quality of life of the married wife.
