Abstract

The hashtag feature (#) in TikTok's social media plays a role in creating counter�hegemony. In this case, #patriarki emphasized as a community that will be researched to uncover the existence of male gaze culture. Furthermore, the author will discuss how TikTok's social media with its hashtag feature plays a role in counter-hegemony efforts against the male gaze culture in Indonesia. There is a patriarchy that is still the dominant force in influencing various aspects of people's lives to give rise to the existence of a male gazee culture. This system puts men in a dominant position both socially, economically, and politically. Meanwhile, women often experience discrimination in the form of unfair experiences in getting the same opportunities as men. This difference tends to lead to inequality to give advantages to men and disadvantages to women. Using the netnography method by taking data from TikTok #patriarki content which is then analyzed using thematic analysis. The results of the research were presented by grouping three main themes, namely the use of content to reveal patriarchy in culture, TikTok content to increase awareness, and the use of content as a criticism of male gaze culture.
