Abstract

Public Relations is a very important division in a company or agency. In this case, the East Java Province Cooperatives and SMEs Office continues to improve its good image by meeting the information needs of the community. This triggered researchers to conduct research on the Analysis of the Role of Public Relations of the Cooperatives and SMEs Office of East Java Province as public information in meeting the information needs of the community. The method used in the research is a qualitative descriptive approach, with observation, interview, and documentation techniques. This research obtained very good results in carrying out its role as public information by being strengthened by evidence that all information disseminated directly or through the media can be accepted by the public, especially SMEs. After the Public Relations of the Cooperatives and SMEs Office of East Java Province applied the Excellence in Public Relations Theory, all Public Relations activities were more organized and the dissemination of information was still conveyed despite the lack of existing human resources. This research is expected to be useful in the development of Communication Sciences, especially those related to public relations. Therefore, the Public Relations of the Cooperatives and SMEs Office of East Java Province is expected to be able to carry out its role even better with the theory of Excellence in Public Relations.
