Abstract

In the 2024 General Election, Generation Z is the largest group of Generation Z in the last two periods. The increase in the number of Generation Z participation is followed by political awareness, which can be interpreted as the level of concern of Generation Z towards the government or the ongoing political system. This research aims to explore the effectiveness of the implementation of Generation Z Participation towards the 2024 General Election in Surabaya City. Through the distribution of questionnaires involving pre-test and post-test stages, this research adopts descriptive methods in a quantitative context. The research sample consists of 130 Generation Z respondents aged 17-24 years old, who are the main focus of efforts to increase their political participation.The importance of understanding the factors that influence Generation Z's political participation is not only for the local context of Surabaya City but also on a national scale. The data collection techniques used include surveys or questionnaires as well as literature review, which were chosen due to their success in collecting relevant and in-depth data. The selection of pre-test and post-test analysis techniques was chosen with the aim of gaining a more detailed insight into how Generation Z participation can be increased in the context of the 2024 General Election in Surabaya City. Based on the research results, Generation Z's participation in the 2024 General Election in Surabaya City can be interpreted as a form of political awareness or the level of trust Generation Z still maintains towards the government or the ongoing political system. Generation Z today is also more rational and critical about Indonesia's future leaders. Generation Z's ability to adapt to modernization requires leaders who can adapt to Generation Z. Thus, it is expected that the results of this study can make a significant contribution to the development of effective strategies to increase the political engagement of Generation Z more broadly in Indonesia.
