Abstract

This research focuses on the influence of interpersonal communication between coaches and athletes, where good closeness can have a positive influence both physically and mentally, the closeness of a coach and athlete provides a sense of security so that athletes can have a sense of self-efficacy when participating in championships. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of interpersonal communication on the level of self-confidence of athletes. The method used in this research is quantitative with a survey method, where in collecting data, respondents use saturated or matched sampling techniques with a total of 40 respondents. The results in this research are in interpersonal communication carried out by coaches. and athletes during training create a feeling of emotional closeness so that there is a significant influence on the level of self-confidence of athletes. In the training process to prepare for matches, the need for training to strengthen the physical and also a good relationship, both from the coach and the athlete, this has an influence. the interpersonal communication between the coach and the athlete creates emotional closeness so that under the pressure of taking part in a championship, the athlete has full confidence in having the coach nearby.
