Abstract

Indonesia is an earthquake-prone area because it is traversed by the intersection of 3 teictoic continents, namely the Indo-Australian region, the Eurasian region and the Pacific Ocean. Indonesia is located in the middle of the Ring of Fire because there is a lot of active volcanic activity which can also have the impact of causing tsunami disasters. These conditions can result in the occurrence of frequent earthquakes in various regions in Indonesia. Earthquake loads are horizontal loads that can cause various effects on buildings, one of which is horizontal drift. High-rise buildings must pay attention to their stiffness in order to meet the maximum horizontal deviation limits imposed by applicable regulations. Shear walls are one of the elements used in high-rise buildings with the aim of adding rigidity to the building structure. This research aims to determine the effect of shear wall placement on the structural behavior of a 7-story reinforced concrete building. From the research results, there are 2 building models, namely the existing building structure that places shear walls at the edge and the model building structure that places shear walls in the middle. The modeling results show that the building vibration period obtained from the existing building and model building is 0.2585 and 0.40209, respectively. The largest deviation value between floors that occurs in existing buildings is 0.084282 mm, while for model buildings the largest deviation is 0.133712 mm. For pushover performance systems in existing building structures that reach a target performance point of 0.324 m, it is classified as Life Safety (LS), while for model buildings it reaches a target performance point of 0.495 m.
