Abstract

The tourism industry in Indonesia is getting better. Companies in the tourism business as providers of accommodation and food and beverages are expected to survive and develop in this business competition by optimizing management so that operational activities can run effectively, efficiently and economically. Without good operational activities, companies are unable to strengthen their position in facing increasingly widespread business competition. Therefore, to ensure that operational activities are running effectively, efficiently and economically in accordance with applicable standards and predetermined strategies, management can conduct management audits of operational functions both ad hoc and periodically. The aim of this research is to assess the effectiveness of the purchasing function at the Grand Dafam Signature Hotel Surabaya. This research uses qualitative methods using primary data and secondary data obtained from observations and interviews. The research object is the Grand Dafam Signature Hotel Surabaya. The results of this research indicate that the purchasing function at the Grand Dafam Signature Hotel Surabaya is quite good and effective in carrying out purchasing activities, but there are still several audit findings such as dual functions in the warehouse function and also receiving goods, as well as the payment function and accounts payable function, and audit findings. the other is wasted purchasing costs due to purchases outside working hours and also sudden purchases. Suggestions for companies to improve audit findings are that companies should maintain the implementation of operational audits on purchases in order to further improve management performance. And coordinate and collect effective information between the purchasing department and other parts that are related to the company's purchasing cycle.
