Abstract

Cassava, as a popular snack, is frequently utilized by the community. The design and construction of this cassava slicing machine aim to address challenges faced by home industries producing cassava chips that still rely on manual slicing tools, requiring significant labor and time. With the objective of enhancing production output, time efficiency, and cost reduction, an automated cassava slicing machine is designed. Common issues encountered include suboptimal product quality due to inconsistent size variations and low productivity. Therefore, this research aims to design a cassava slicing machine with sufficient capacity, energy efficiency, and the capability to produce cassava slices with uniform thickness. The research methodology begins with identifying the influence of the number of blade edges and machine rotations, considering the impact of blade angle and cutting distance on the cutting tool. Subsequently, the machine element planning involves selecting an electric motor, V-belt, shaft, and pulley to support the functionality of this machine.
