Abstract

The rapid development of public sector organizations requires the government to carry out its duties and responsibilities effectively, by emphasizing the importance of accountability and transparency in public sector management. Technological and economic advances in every country increasingly emphasize the need for good governance as the key to success in developing the country in accordance with planned goals. To achieve this goal, every government must demonstrate good performance, which is measured by achieving significant and optimal results. The performance of government agencies is considered effective when it can be measured through the achievement of tangible results, such as increased operational efficiency, transparency in budget allocations, and responsive responses to community needs. This research aims to re-examine the independent variables from previous research using different objects and to determine the factors that can influence the performance of local government agencies, so that the independent variables have a significant positive effect on the performance of local government agencies. The dependent variable in this research is the performance of local government agencies, while the independent variables in this research are accountability and transparency. The data collection method used was a questionnaire survey by distributing questionnaires as primary data. The respondents involved in this research were employees of the Surabaya City Investment and PTSP Department, totaling 75 respondents. The sampling method used was the purposive sampling method. Data collected through questionnaires were tested using validity tests, reliability tests, classical assumption tests, descriptive tests, and hypothesis testing was carried out using the t test, F test, and coefficient of determination using the SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solution) program. The results of the research show that accountability has a significant positive effect on the performance of local government agencies in the Surabaya City Investment and PTSP Service by 0.002 and transparency has a significant positive effect on the performance of local government agencies in the Surabaya City Investment and PTSP Service by 0.000.
