Abstract

This research is about the use of wind potential in the Surabaya region which has the potential to be used as new renewable energy, namely wind power. But it has not been utilized optimally to be used as a wind power plant. So there is potential for new renewable energy in the coastal region of Surabaya. The researcher wants to conduct a study and create wind turbines for wind power generation so that they can be used as a source of electrical energy in the area. In this final project, the research method used is an experimental research method by analyzing the effect of the airfoil tilt angle and the effect of adding Savonius blades to the H-type Darrieus turbine on the resulting turbine power performance. The method used in thisresearch begins with making an H-type Darrieus wind turbine and then collecting data through testing the turbine using variations in airfoil tilt angles of 0°, 10°, 15° and using variations of U-type Savonius turbine blades. and L in the H-type Darriueus turbine. Based on tests using the variable angle of the Darrieus type H turbine blade and the shape of the Savonius turbine blade on the performance of the hybrid turbine in wind power plant (PLTB) design, it was concluded that the variable tilt and type of turbine blade had an effect on power performance. The resulting turbine with Savonius L blade type and blade angle of 0^o produces the largest electrical output power, namely 30.94 watts. This is because at a blade angle of 0^o the wind hitting the turbine is not disturbed so that the wind resistance to the blades can be reduced, minimizing resistance to the rotational movement of the turbine. On the other hand, the Savonius L has a better level of stability because its shape allows for a more even redistribution of the load when rotating. This can reduce vibrations and make the turbine more resistant to suddenly different wind directions.
