Abstract

Diabetes or what is often called diabetes, one of the symptoms caused by diabetes that is most often encountered and easy to see is the emergence of wounds or ulcers that do not heal, are painful, scary, and cause an unpleasant odor so that it disturbs the diabetic patient their self as well as other people. -people around the patient So that this is the main cause of diabetes patients having difficulty accepting themselves with the conditions they are experiencing. Self-acceptance is the individual's ability and desire to live in all its qualities. One of the factors that can affect self-acceptance is family support. Family support is about help, care and appreciation that is felt by other people or the environment and makes individuals feel loved. This research aims to prove the existence of a relationship between family support and self-acceptance. This research used a quantitative method with a total of 114 participants determined by the Gpower application with a tolerance value of (0.05), statistical power of (0.90) and an effect size of 0.274. With the criteria of a patient diagnosed with diabetes at least two years old aged 20-50 years and over. Collecting participants using accidental sampling technique. The results of data analysis used Spearman's Rho non-parametric correlation and obtained a correlation score of 0.636 with a significance p=0.000<0.5. This means that there is a significant positive relationship between family support and self-acceptance. The existence of a positive relationship means that the higher the family support for diabetes patients, the higher self-acceptance. Conversely, the lower the family support for diabetes patients, the lower their self-acceptance.
