Abstract

Electrical energy is one of the most important and vital needs of modern society. The absence of electrical energy will greatly disrupt the continuity of human activity. Therefore the continuity and availability of electrical energy needs to be maintained at all times. Indonesia's current electrification ratio is 87%, this shows that 8.5 million Indonesians or the equivalent of 2500 villages do not have electricity. Indonesia's geographical location is one reason why there are still many areas that have not been reached by the State Electricity Company (PLN), such as Selaru Island at the southern tip of West Southeast Maluku district. Indonesia is a tropical country that has solar energy potential with an average daily insolation of 4.5 – 4.8 kWh/m2/day. So that solar energy is a potential source of renewable energy to be developed in Indonesia. The PLTS in this study is planned to meet the electricity needs independently in residential homes that will be used at night. The type of residence used is 2 houses, with an estimated total daily electric power requirement of 220 Wh and 202 Wh for each house.
