Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and career optimism in final year students. This research is motivated by the demands of final year students to immediately seek and have to prepare for future careers, so that an attitude of optimism is needed so that students have a positive view of the career achievements they want to achieve. Career optimism is a strong hope for a positive career future without negative feelings within oneself even though it is faced with various events or circumstances that befall it. Having an optimistic attitude can increase when students have a strong belief in their abilities which is called self�efficacy. Self-efficacy is a belief in one's ability to overcome various existing problems. This type of research uses a quantitative approach with correlational methods. Self-efficacy and career optimism scales are used as measuring tools in this study. The population of this study were final year students at the University of 17 August 1945 Surabaya from the Faculty of Psychology, Law and Cultural Studies. Sampling used quota sampling technique using the Krejcie table. The results of the study using the Spearman's Rho correlation test show that there is a significant positive relationship between self-efficacy and career optimism in final year students, so that the proposed research hypothesis is accepted.
