Abstract

This research aims to describe the relationship between self-efficacy and adjustment among new students who are living away from home. The study is conducted due to the challenges faced by students who come from outside Surabaya and have to relocate for education, as they have different cultures and languages. One of the factors that influence adjustment is self-belief and self-ability, also known as self-efficacy. A quantitative approach was used in this research through descriptive and correlational methods. A total of 80 students participated as research subjects. The subjects of this study were new students from the Psychology department, class of 2022. Data was collected using Likert scales. Data analysis was performed using Spearman's rho, which revealed a positive relationship between self-efficacy and adjustment. So the results of this research indicate that the higher or the better the self-efficacy of an individual, the better the individual's self-adjustment as well.
