Abstract

Mount Rinjani has an altitude of 3,726 meters above sea level. Because of this height, Mount Rinjani is one of the highest mountains in Indonesia, which is in third position and Mount Rinjani is one of the mountains that has climbing routes that are much liked by climbers, both from local climbers to foreign climbers because of its beautiful natural scenery. beautiful from the beginning of the climb to the top of the end of the climb. Now Mount Rinjani is in Mount Rinjani National Park with an area of 41,330 ha, while the administrative boundaries of Mount Rinjani are located in the three districts east of Lombok island namely East Lombok Regency, Central Lombok Regency and North Lombok Regency. Mount Rinjani has a lot of information about the history of both geological history regarding the formation and occurrence of eruptions affecting disaster archeology. The eruption of Mount Samalas, which is the ancestor of Mount Rinjani, experienced a very powerful eruption. This eruption has an eruption scale of up to 7 Volcanic Explosivity Index and is estimated This eruption occurred in the 13th century, namely around 1257 AD. With the establishment of the Mount Rinjani Geopark, which is now on an international scale, it is important to have a museum that studies geology and archeology regarding the cultural history of the people of Lombok, which became a lost civilization after being swallowed by the Samalas eruption, and this civilization left objects used for daily life in ancient times. These and these relics were sent to several museums such as the Bali Archaeological Center, the National Geological Museum and also some in the Netherlands, because of this Mount Rinjani needs an institution that can store and study the remains of this civilization on its own.
