Abstract

This research is based on the high intensity of social media use during the pandemic, especially among students who are undergoing online lectures that trigger social media addiction, which aims to determine the relationship between Fear of Missing Out and social media addiction. This study uses quantitative research methods with the number of respondents as many as 138 students who were selected using purposive sampling technique. The data collection method used is the scale of social media addiction and the time of Fear of Missing Out. The results showed that there was a relationship between social media addiction and Fear of Missing Out with a value of rho = 0.838 with a significance of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). This means that there is a very significant positive correlation between Fear of Missing Out and social media addiction, so the higher the Fear of Missing out, the higher the social media addiction. On the other hand, the lower the Fear of Missing out, the lower the addiction to social media will be. Keywords: Social Media Addiction, Fear of Missing Out.
