Abstract

Youkai pada umumnya digambarkan sebagai makhluk yang memiliki bentuk aneh, dapat berubah bentuk, serta dapat muncul dan menghilang secara tiba-tiba. Youkai dalam mitos dan anime memiliki penggambaran yang berbeda, antara lain wujud dan karakteristik merupakan hal yang sering digambarkan secara berbeda. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah membandingkan penggambaran wujud dan karakteristik youkai antara mitos menurut masyarakat Jepang dan anime Gugure! Kokkuri-san. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan mitopoik, sedangkan metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif analisis. Kajian penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kajian penelitian youkai menurut Michael Foster, Matthew Meyer, Yoda dan Matt Alt. Data penelitian yang dihasilkan sebanyak 10 data yang terdiri dari 5 jenis youkai yakni kitsune, inugami, tanuki, bakeneko, dan tengu dan 2 kategori, yakni wujud dan karakteristik. Secara keseluruhan, youkai dalam mitos digambarkan memiliki wujud yang aneh dan menakutkan sementara wujud youkai dalam anime digambarkan dengan wujud menarik dan lucu. Dalam anime Gugure! Kokkuri-San, karateristik youkai digambarkan sebagai makhluk yang ceria, konyol, dan ramah pada manusia. Sementara karakteristik youkai dalam mitos digambarkan sebagai penipu yang mengerikan dan dapat membahayakan manusia. Kata kunci : youkai, wujud, karakteristik, mitos, anime.
