Abstract

The Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) is the sports authority in Indonesia. KONI is the only organization authorized and responsible for managing, fostering, developing, and coordinating the entire implementation of sports achievement activities for every member in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the role of public relations KONI Sidoarjo Regency as public information in building the image of the institution. This research is a descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The subject of this research is the head of the public relations division of KONI Sidoarjo Regency. Data collection techniques are using observation, interviews, and documentation. The data validity technique was determined using source and method triangulation techniques. Researchers use the public information model. From the analysis carried out, it can be explained that KONI Sidoarjo public relations uses a one-way communication model in disseminating information to the public in order to build the image of the institution, where this model is based on information dissemination to the public. This explains the main value inherent in communication at KONI Sidoarjo's public relations. Key values include communication patterns, types of information and media used. For the results obtained, KONI Public Relations of Sidoarjo Regency also uses social media assistance where social media itself has a major contribution, where its role and function are very important in building and enhancing the image of the institution. The media used by KONI Sidoarjo Regency Instagram with users (koni_sidoarjo), Youtube with users (Koni Sidoarjo), and Website (konisidoarjo.id) are official social media owned by KONI Sidoarjo Regency. Then KONI Sidoarjo Regency also uses electronic media such as videotron which functions as a medium of communication and public information. Meanwhile, mass media such as print media, television media and others, KONI Public Relations Sidoarjo Regency cooperates with all mass media covering sports.
