Abstract
The Puteri Indonesia 2020 beauty contest went viral because one of the finalists for Puteri Indonesia from West Sumatra, Kalista Iskandar, was unable to pronounce the five Pancasila precepts fluently when asked a question by Mr. Bambang Soesatyo. This sparked the virality of the Puteri Indonesia 2020 beauty contest and became a hot topic of discussion among the public. Netizens gave lots of negative comments when they found out about the broadcast, but there are also some netizens who give their support to Kalista. From the virality of the video, it creates perceptions related to the image of the Puteri Indonesia beauty contest. Researcher are interested in conducting research on Untag Surabaya Communication Studies students regarding their perceptions of the image of Puteri Indonesia after the viral video of Puteri Indonesia finalists who did not memorize Pancasila. Researcher used social judgment theory as a support in observing the perceptions given by informants. The results of the study show that there are three perceptual attitudes in shaping the image of the Putri Indonesia beauty pegeants. Keyword: Putri Indonesia, Perception, Image, Viral
