Abstract
ST 37 steel is a low carbon steel because it has a carbon content of less than 0.3% so it has soft properties and also has weak strength compared to medium carbon steel and high carbon steel. Therefore it is necessary to carry out further investigations on the corrosion of ST 37 steel. This research method is an experimental method using a multilevel heat treatment variation consisting of hardening at 8400C for 15 minutes cooled with SAE 40 oil, normalizing at 8450C for 15 minutes for cooling using air, full annealing at 8500C for 15 minutes for cooling slowly in heating furnace, austempering with a temperature of 8750C hold for 15 minutes then the material is removed and cooled in a salt balm with a temperature of 3000C and held for 60 minutes then removed and cooled using air, After Obtaining Results then the corrosion rate (mpy) is calculated using the weight loss method ( weight loss) from the calculation results it is known that full annealing heat treatment is the best in reducing the corrosion rate of ST 37 steel plate.
