Abstract

Sleep quality is a very complex phenomenon involving various domains, including assessment of sleep duration, sleep disturbances, sleep latency, daytime sleep dysfunction, sleep efficiency, sleep quality, use of sleeping pills. One of the factors that affect the quality of sleep is the intensity of the use of online games. This study aims to determine the relationship between the intensity of online game use and sleep quality among members of the esports community. This study uses correlational quantitative methods to achieve research objectives. The subjects used in this study were 75 students at the University of 17 August 1945 Surabaya who were members of the UNTAG esport UKM. The measurement tool uses a scale of the intensity of using online games and a scale ofsleep quality. The research data were analyzed using the Spearman' Rho correlation test with the help of the IBS SPSS version 26.0 for window computer program. The results of data analysis calculations show that the Spearman's Rho correlation coefficient is -0.048 with a significance of 0.000 (p <0.05), which means that there is a significant negative relationship between the intensity of using online games and sleep quality in UNTAG esport UKM members.
