Abstract

Eksistensi komponen rem sangat penting di suatu kendaraan, terutama kendaraan bermotor. Beberapa kecelakaan terjadi bisa ditimbulkan sebab sistem rem yang tak berfungsi sesuai dengan seharusnya. tak berfungsinya sistem rem umumnya ditimbulkan sebab ditimbulkan adanya keausan pada cakram serta kampas rem akibat ukiran yang terjadi secara terus menerus, semakin tinggi laju kendaraan akan semakin fatal kerusakan yang terjadi apabila sistem pengereman tidak berfungsi dengan baik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode metalurgi serbuk yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai pengaruh variasi komposisi terhadap nilai kekerasan dan nilai keausan dan juga untuk mengetahui variasi komposisi bahan kampas rem yang paling mendekati nilai kampas rem pembanding merk Kagawa. Bahan yang digunakan adalah material komposit ramah lingkungan dengan beberapa variasi komposisi material yaitu serbuk kayu jati (SKJ), serbuk kuningan, magnesium oksida, resin polyester dengan katalis sebagai penguat dan pengering dengan variasi paduan yaitu SKJ/Kn 1/5, 2/5, 3/5, 4/5 + 2 gr Magnesium Oxide + 2 ml Resin Polyester dan Kn/SKJ 1/5, 2/5, 3/5, 4/5 + 2 gr Magnesium Oxide + 2 ml Resin Polyester yang akan diberikan tekanan kompaksi 3200 psi selama 30 menit, dengan temperatur suhu Sintering sebesar 180 °C dengan waktu 30 menit. Proses pengujian spesimen meliputi pengujian kekerasan menggunakan alat uji Shore D (Shore Durometers Hardness Tester) dan pengujian keausan menggunakan alat uji Ogoshi. . Dari hasil proses pengujian nilai kekerasan yang paling mendekati kampas rem Kagawa dengan kekerasan 71,5 kgf/n adalah spesimen 1/5 serbuk kayu jati (skj) dengan nilai kekerasan 72 kgf/n dan spesimen 4/5 kuningan didapatkan nilai kekerasan 71 kgf/n. Nilai keausan yang paling mendekati dengan kampas rem merk Kagawa adalah pada spesimen 4/5 kuningan nilai keausannya yaitu 1.783 X 10-6 mm2/kg.
