Abstract

Welding technology is an integral part of manufacturing technology. In welding work, attention must be paid to the suitability of the welding structure to achieve the best results. To do this, welding needs to pay attention to several important things, including welding efficiency, energy saving, and of course low costs. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of metal shielded arc welding (SMAW) using currents of 100 A, 110 A, and 120 A on the tensile strength of ST37 steel. Testing the results of the welding used is the destructive test method, namely in the form of a tensile test (tensile test). and also this study aims to fulfill the final assignment as a graduation requirement. The cooling process is carried out on the results of ST37 steel welding, using water as a cooling medium, used oil, and cooling it to room temperature. This process is useful for improving the tensile strength of ST37 welding results without changing the chemical composition as a whole. The method chosen in this study is the experimental method, with the experimental method, the researcher will carry out control alias control which aims to investigate possible causal relationships, and also determines the variations and methods to be used.
