Abstract

Ammonia merupaka salah satu bahan yang paling penting dalam proses pembuatan pupuk di PT. Petrokimia Gresik Ammonia sendiri memerlukan penangaan khusus karena merupakan bahan kimia yang berbahaya dan dalam penyimpanannya sering menimbulkan kenaikan pressure tangki dikarenakan ammonia mudah sekali menguap. Ammonia didalam tanki yang menguap berbentuk vapour membuat tekanan dalam tanki berkisar antara 45-50 gr/cm² yang selanjutnya akan diturunkan dengan proses yang bernama rerigerant system, proses refrigerant system sendiri yakni bermula dari ammonia vapour yang berada didalam tanki dipindahkan ke dalam tanki penampungan yang bernama suction drum dengan kode 32-D 802 yang selanjutnya akan dikompresikan oleh compressor dengan kode 32-MC 801 dan ditampung di oil sparator yang bertujuan untuk mengikat amonia vapour agar mudah motor compressor untuk mengkompresikannya, setelah dikopresikan oleh motor compressor 32 MC 801, menghasilkan ammonia vapor bertekanan 10-12 kg/cm² yang selanjutnya diproses ke dalam tanki liquid reciver dengan kode 32-D 806 setelah melalui tanki liquid reciver ammonia sudah dalam bentuk liquid tetapi masih dalam temperatur yang panas yakni bersuhu ruangan antara 27-30° C setelah itu ammonia liquid masuk ke tanki ekonomizer dengan kode 32-E 803 ammonia masuk ekonomizer dengan 2 jalur yakni pipe line 4” dan 2”, pipe line 2” pembukaannya diatur oleh control valve LCV-101. Setelah keluar dari dalam proses di ekonomizer ammonia bersuhu -6°C, selanjutnya ammonia diturunkan lagi temperaturnya dengan masuk tanki re evaporator dengan kode 32-E 805 yang hasilnya ammonia liquid bersuhu -10°C, di re evaporator ammonia yang gagal menjadi liquid dan masih berbentuk vapor akan diproses kembali dari awal dengan masuk kedalam tanki suction drum sedangkan ammonia yang bersuhu -10°C akan kembali masuk ke dalam tanki penyimpanan untuk didistribusikan ke unit proses sebagai bahan baku pembuatan pupuk.
