Abstract
This research was construct to know the relationship between self- compassion and social support with gratitude for parents who have children with special needs. This research uses quantitative methods to achieve the research objectives. This research was conducted at Esya Therapy and SLB Cita Hati Bunda, Sidoarjo Regency with the research subject of 62 parents of children with special needs who were obtained using random sampling technique. Collecting data in the form of a self-compassion scale consisting of 13 items, a social support scale consisting of 12 items, and a gratitude scale consisting of 12 items that have been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis using Spearman Brown correlation test. The results of data analysis show that the self-compassion variable has a correlation coefficient of 0.298 with a significance of = 0.019 (<0.05), meaning that there is a significant positive relationship between self-compassion and gratitude for parents who have children with special needs, so that the higher the self-compassion that is owned, the higher the gratitude one has. Furthermore, the results of data analysis show that the social support variable has a correlation coefficient = 0.298 with a significance value of = 0.019 (<0.05), meaning that there is a significant positive relationship between social support and gratitude for parents who have children with special needs, so the higher the the social support provided, the higher the gratitude they have.
