Abstract
Students are required to complete a thesis as a requirement for obtaining a bachelor's degree. These demands put pressure on students so they experience academic stress. The stress experienced by students can manifest itself in anxiety, excessive worry, anger, hatred, mood changes often. Internal factors such as gratitude can also determine how individuals react to stressors. This study aims to determine the relationship between gratitude and academic stress in students who are taking theses. The population in this study were psychology students at the University of 17 August 1945 Surabaya, class of 2015-2018 who took the Even semester thesis in 2021-2022 with a total of 243. The sample of this study was 151 students. The sampling technique in this study was carried out using a simple random sampling technique. The data collection technique uses an academic stress scale and a gratitude scale that will be compiled by researchers using the Likert model. The data analysis technique that will be used in this study uses the Pearson product-moment correlation technique. Based on the results of the Pearson product- moment test through the assistance of the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 25.0 for windows, a correlation value of -0.457 was obtained with a significance value of p=0.000<0.01 which means that there is a very significant negative relationship between gratitude and academic stress of students who are taking theses, the higher the gratitude of students, the lower the academic stress experienced by students.
