Abstract
Briquettes are an energy source that can be used as an alternative energy substitute. Briquettes can be made from raw materials that we often find in everyday life, such as coconut shells, rice husks, husk charcoal, sawdust (sawdust), corncobs, leaves, and so on. Making briquettes is done by pressing or compacting the process which aims to increase the calorific value per unit area of a material that will be used as alternative energy, so that with a relatively small size large energy will be produced. The aims of this study were (1) to determine the design of a briquette machine with a mat diameter of 4 mm and 7 mm. (2) Knowing the results of briquettes from the difference between 4 mm and 7 mm mats (molding). In this study, the raw material used was a mixture of kettle ash and sawdust. The driving engine speed is 1400 rpm. The centrifugal mill roller components in this study amounted to 2 rollers. The distance between the molding and the roller is 1 mm. Next Produce briquettes with a diameter of 4mm and 7mm. From the results of the planning of the briquette printing tool in this study, it shows that these briquettes are between 3-12 mm in diameter and 6-25 mm in length. The way the briquette printing machine works is that the main shaft rotates and is related to the molding which is locked using a nut. Above the mold, there is a roller that rotates due to friction between the roller and the mold at a certain distance, in the gap between the roller and the mold there are raw materials (wood powder and boiler ash) which will be compressed due to the compressive force between the roller and the mold. Briquettes that have been cut will exit through the funnel in the form of a cylinder with a diameter corresponding to the mold. From the calculation of the planning required a motor with a power of 1.5 HP or 1.12 kW. The roller pressure that occurs is 0.018 kg/mm2 . The frictional force that arises is 62.25 N.
