Abstract

This study has the aim of providing an overview of the use of social media Facebook as an alternative media in providing information carried out by the Public Relations of Samsat Tuban. The theory used in this research is the Media Richness Theory according to Richard L. Daft and Robert H. Lengel. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method. The data obtained were sourced from interviews with selected sources and actual data obtained. The technique used in data collection uses triangulation theory, namely different data collection techniques to obtain the same source. The data collection uses interview, observation, and in-depth documentation techniques on the Samsat Tuban Public Relations and uses three communities in Tuban Regency, East Java as a supporter and at the same time testing the validity of the data. This study uses primary and secondary data sources. The object of this research is Samsat Tuban. This study describes the use of social media Facebook as an alternative media to disseminate information to the people of Tuban Regency, East Java, which is carried out by Samsat Tuban Public Relation. The results of this study indicate that the use of social media Facebook as an alternative media provides information to the people of Tuban Regency who need information regarding the Samsat Tuban. In providing information, Samsat Tuban Public Relation has two events in providing information, namely through photo or image and video content.
