Abstract
The arts have an important role, to boost the local economy and also to become and to become an attraction for the tourism sector. Art in a city can be said to exist if, in that city, art events or festivals are often held. By organizing art events/festivals, it can provide added value economically. Surabaya is one of the metropolitan cities in Indonesia. In the city of Surabaya, art activities are held in different place, such as the UPDT Tugu Pahlawan, THR, Youth Center, UPDT THP Kenjeran and Ampel Religious Tourism. This is because there is no special place for art performances, so that it can create a lack of integration in the arts in Surabaya. From these problems, it is necessary to have a gallery for artistic activities. With the design of a Contemporary Art Gaellery in Surabaya using a modern architectural approach as a place for performing arts, it is hoped that it can increase Human Resources, and can boost the value of the economic and tourism sectors.
