Abstract
In the context of increasingly open global competition today, there are many challenges that must be faced. Countries that excel in their resources will win the competition. a country that does not have a competitive advantage in resources will lose out on the competition and will not make much progress. In Indonesia alone, the challenges of global competition, population growth, social responsibility, biodiversity, ethics, technological and scientific progress and lifestyle and trends are interrelated challenges. The increasing number of food and beverage industry companies in the area and increasing competition have an effect on improving the performance of small, medium and large companies/industry. the food and beverage industry sector in East Java with a population in 2015 of more than 38,847,561 people, tropical climate. this is a potential market for the food and beverage industry, both nationally and globally. In this study, the population is all food and beverage industry companies in East Java. Based on data from the East Java GAPMMI, based in Surabaya, the number of entrepreneurs who joined was 245 entrepreneurs. The sample of this research is 152 companies. The analysis technique used is a structural equation model (Structural Equation Modeling) to confirm each construct forming indicator and at the same time test the effect between constructs. In this research, there are seven hypotheses tested using SEM. The results of SEM, this study concludes as follows: 1) Internal ability has a significant effect on competitive strategy in food and beverage industry companies in East Java, 2) Internal capabilities have a significant effect on improving company performance in industrial and beverage companies in East Java. 3) External Network has a significant effect on the competitive strategy of food and beverage industry companies in East Java. 4) External network has a significant effect on company performance in food and beverage industry companies in East Java. 5) Value Chain Strategy has a significant effect on the competitive strategy of food and beverage industry companies in East Java. 6) Value Chain Strategy has a significant effect on company performance in food and beverage industry companies in East Java. 7) Competitive strategy has a significant effect on company performance in food and beverage industry companies in East Java.
