Abstract
An open space planted with plants, naturally or intentionally planted which is part of a city area whose benefits are comfort, beauty, and welfare in an urban area is called RTH (Green Open Space). The basic functions of green open space are social functions, physical functions and aesthetic functions. So the role of green open space in an urban area is very important. The function of green open space for recreation areas is an example of a social function. Mainly in the physical function of green open space as the heart of the city, the need for relaxation, silencers and buffers for built-up land. Green open space also acts as a binder between building elements in urban areas, landmarks that characterize the city, as well as elements in spatial planning in urban architecture which are part of the aesthetic function of green open space. The design of Central Park Kepanjen is a green open space facility that functions as the heart of Kepanjen City, visual needs, buffering of built up land and protection of the city community from air pollution as well as being able to accommodate non-formal activities and common spaces for the people of Kepanjen City with a vernacular architectural design. Vernacular architectural design is a local architectural design concept where the application adapts to the local climate of an area, using techniques and materials from the local area, which is based on social, cultural, and economic aspects of the local community.
