Abstract

Wae Rebo cultural tourism is one of the tourist villages that applies the concept of community based tourism, so it requires community participation in its development. With the beauty of Mbaru Niang (House of Cones) which is very sacred, it really helps the people of Wae Rebo in the field of tourism, so that the community plays a special role or participates in the process of developing cultural tourism in Wae Rebo, so this research was carried out to find out this. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, the type of data that comes from the results of observations and interviews is primary and secondary data. Data analysis will be carried out descriptively discussing community participation in the development of Wae Rebo cultural tourism, the results of the study show that the Wae Rebo community is directly involved in the tourism development process and has a good impact on the surrounding community. Wae Rebo is one of the tourism villages that has applied “Community-Based Tourism” concept, which means that they would need the villagers , participation in its development. Villagers participation is needed to keep Mbaru Niang,s (Rumah Kerucut) beauty that is really important for tourism's development in Wae Rebo. This study discusses about the villagers role in this development and uses qualitative descriptive as the method. This study also uses the results of interview an observation as the primary and secondary data while using descriptive research as the data analysis method. The results based on the analysis shows that Wae Rebo's villagers have been directly involved in its tourism development progress and have given positive impact for their surroundings.
