Abstract
The tendency in satisfying needs both in terms of products, services, or ideas produces a decision consisting of one or several desires that cause an individual to have a consumptive behavior. Individuals who have their own income tend to be consumptive because they feel that they are able to buy the things they want without seeing the needs needed or the main needs. In consumptive behavior can be avoided by self-control in each person. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-control and consumptive behavior in working students. Data collection techniques using Scale and Spearman’s Rho Correlation Test techniques using self control variables (X) and consumer behavior variables (Y). The results of this study indicate that self control obtained the highest percentage in the good category of 40%. Whereas for consumptive behavior the highest percentage is obtained in the medium category that is 46% The result of the correlation variable is 0.420 with a significance value = 0.000 <0.05, which means the hypothesis in this study is rejected. Towards a positive relationship between self-control and consumptive behavior. The higher the self-control received, the lower the consumptive behavior. Conversely the lower the self-control received, the higher the consumptive behavior.
