Abstract

his study aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and self-esteem with self-adjustment in new students of the Faculty of Psychology University August 17, 1945 Surabaya. Self-adjustment is the dynamic process that exists in individuals with the aim to change the behavior of individuals so that a more appropriate relationship between themselves and the environment. Self-efficacy is a level of one's confidence in himself about his ability to do the task to achieve certain results. Selfesteem is a form of evaluation or individual evaluation of himself in the range of positive to negative. The number of subjects of this study were new students of the Faculty of Psychology, August 17, 1945 Surabaya University with a total sample of 167 samples obtained from 288 populations. The hypothesis proposed in this study is that there is a relationship between self-efficacy and self-esteem with self-adjustment in new students of the Faculty of Psychology, August 17, 1945 Surabaya University. The analysis used is multiple linear regression techniques that are processed with SPSS Windows 21 for IBM software. The results of the analysis obtained values of F = 243,323 and t = 5,389 with significance (p) = 0,000 (p <0.01) which means that there is a very significant relationship between self-efficacy and self-esteem with self-adjustment in new students. Partial regression results show that the variable of self-efficacy with adjustment in new students is obtained t value = 3,742 with a significance (p) = 0,000 (p <0.01) which means that there is a very significant relationship between self-efficacy and adjustment in new students . The partial regression results show that the variable of self-esteem with self-adjustment in new students obtained a value of t = -0.333 with significance (p) = 0.739 (p> 0.01) which means that there is no relationship between self-esteem and self-adjustment in new students.
