Abstract

The minimum wage is something that must be obeyed by every business actor so that workers get a decent wage, the minimum wage often changes every year. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is an effect of the minimum wage on the open unemployment rate in the city of Surabaya partially or simultaneously. The research approach used in this study is a quantitative method. The sample in this study is the minimum wage data for the city of Surabaya, the number of the workforce in the city of Surabaya, and the unemployment rate for the city of Surabaya during the years 2011-2020. The analytical tool used in this study is multiple linear regression using the SPSS program. The results of this study indicate that the city's minimum wage has no significant effect on open unemployment in the city of Surabaya, then the labor force variable has no significant effect on open unemployment in Surabaya. Furthermore, the city's minimum wage and the labor force if tested simultaneously have no significant effect on the level of open unemployment in the city of Surabaya. This shows that the wage and labor force variables together have no significant effect in the city of Surabaya. Keywords : Minimum Wage, Labor Force, Open Unemployment Rate
