Abstract
Goods distribution is one of the most important activities in a company's operations, as it directly affects delivery timeliness and operational COSt efficiency. AMDK K3PG Gresik still employs a conventional distribution system, which has the potential to result in unnecessary travel distances and increased operational costs. This study aims to optimize distribution routes using the Saving Matrix method and the Nearest Neighbor algorithm to improve the eficiency of the convxmy's distribution system. This research adopts a quantitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data used include distances between outlets, distribution costs, vehicle capacity, and product demand. The Saving Matrix method was applied to identify potential distance savings and develop more efficient distribution routes, while the Nearest Neighbor algorithm was used to determine the sequence of outlet visits based on the shortest distance. lhe results indicate that the implementation of the Saving Matrix method and the Nearest Neighbor algorithm successfully improved the distribution efficiency at A&fDK K3PG Gresik The data analysis produced three optimal distribution routes, reducing the total travel distance from 296 km to 263 hn, resulting in a saving of 33 km (11%). In addition, the total daily distribution operating cost decreased from IDR 1,575, 300 to IDR l, 455,300, achieving a cost saving oflDR 120, 000 per day (8%). The application of the Nearest Neighbor algorithm also improved delivery effectiveness, with vehicle utilization reaching 38%. Therefore, the combination of the *wing Matrix method and the Nearest Neighbor algorithm has proven to be effective in producing a more eficient, well-structured, and cost-effective distribution system compared with the previous distribution system.
