Abstract

PT. Keramik Diamond Industries is a wall and floor ceramic manufacturing company that is required to be able to meet production targets effectively and efficiently. However, in several periods in 2025, the production target at Plant II has not been fully achieved, which indicates a mismatch between work capacity, workload, and the number of available workers. This study aims to analyze labor requirements based on working time measurements to increase productivity at Plant II of PT. Keramik Diamond Industries. The data used in this study include production data from January to July 2025 and operator work activity data on shift 1. The method used in this study is the Stopwatch Time Study to determine standard time and workload analysis (WLA) to calculate labor requirements based on the workload received by operators. Data were obtained through direct observation in the Body Preparation, Press, Glazing, Klin, and Grading sections. The results of the study indicate that the actual number of workers of 20 people is not optimal. Based on the WLA method, the optimal labor requirement is 23 people with the addition of 3 operators in the Klin section, while the number of workers in other sections remains the same. From the productivity aspect, labor adjustment supports an increase in production output from an average of 369,223.01 m²/month to 400,000 m²/month so that labor productivity and machine productivity have increased in most production sections. From the cost aspect, the total labor cost before the implementation of WLA was Rp803,910,480, consisting of regular time and overtime costs. After the implementation of WLA, the total labor cost became Rp119,494,752 due to the need for overtime. Thus, the implementation of the WLA method is able to produce more optimal labor needs, increase productivity, and reduce labor costs by Rp684,415,728.
