Abstract

CV. Karya Cipta Baru is a company engaged in the construction of commercial vehicles that produces various types of truck bodies, with a primary focus on dropside truck bodies. The raw material procurement system that is carried out based on immediate needs causes the company to be at risk of experiencing material shortages, thus hampering the production process and causing losses due to customer requests that cannot be met on time. This study aims to plan raw material requirements using the Material Requirement Planning (MRP) method and analyze efforts to minimize losses due to material unavailability. The method used is MRP with the Lot For Lot (LFL) technique, namely ordering materials according to net needs for each production period. The results of the study show that material orders were made 6 times during the period from January to May with a total material requirement including 352 sheets of 3.5 mm plate iron, 528 UNP iron rods, 412 butterfly hinges, 67 sheets of 6 mm plate iron, 67 CNP iron rods, and 330 M8 bolts. Before the implementation of MRP, the company experienced a loss of Rp108,054,000 per year consisting of lost sales of Rp108,000,000 and overtime costs of Rp54,000. The implementation of the LFL MRP technique resulted in more accurate raw material requirements planning, reduced the risk of stockouts, guaranteed material availability, and helped minimize the company's potential losses.
