Abstract

PT Suryaraya Nusatama is a manufacturing company producing piano components under a Make To Order (MTO) system, with spruce wood as the primary raw material for soundboard production. The company faced a significant inventory accumulation problem, where actual stock levels far exceeded production requirements, with a cumulative surplus of 9,437.47 m³recorded from September 2025 to February 2026. This condition resulted in a holding cost of IDR 11,180,012 per month and ordering cost of IDR 35,792,610 per month, bringing the total actual inventory cost to IDR 46,972,622 per month. This study aimed to analyze actual inventory conditions, calculate material requirements based on production demand, and develop a more optimal inventory control plan. The method applied was Min Max Inventory Control combined with safety stock calculation using the Fixed Order Quantity (Method Q) approach at a 95% service level. The results revealed that the average actual material consumption was only 219.98 m³ per month. Implementation of the Min–Max method produced structured control parameters: a safety stock of 144.64 m³, a minimum inventory (ROP) of 804.60 m³, and a maximum inventory of 1,464.55 m³. The application of this system reduced average stock levels by 41.0% and generated total inventory cost savings of IDR 341,342,677 per year, representing a cost efficiency of 60.6% compared to actual conditions.
