Abstract
The coastal area of Kota Maba is a highly dynamic transition zone between land and sea, naturally experiencing various environmental issues such as abrasion, sedimentation, horeline changes, and fluctuations in wave activity. These conditions pose potential threats to nearby infrastructure and residential areas. To develop a more adaptive coastal protection structure, a quantitative analysis of the relationship between wind speed, wave generation, and run-up estimation is required as the basis for determining the optimal position and crest elevation of the seawall. The method used in this study is descriptive quantitative with an analytical approach. The results show that the wave energy (E) occurring at Maba City Beach is 3.97 J/m², with an energy flux (P) of 13.62 W/m. The obtained refraction coefficient (Kr) is 0.855, and the shoaling coefficient (Ks) is 1.17. Consequently, the breaking wave height (Hb) is 1.66 m at a breaking depth (db) of 1.95 m, with the breaking wave type classified as spilling. The wave breaking distance from the shoreline is 80 m, and the resulting run-up is 0.15 m. Based on these results, the recommended position of the seawall is located outside the wave breaking zone, taking into account the highest tidal elevation and the actual site conditions, which is 107 m from the wave breaking zone. The design components include a wave set-up (Sw) of 0.25 m, run-up of 0.15 m, and a freeboard of 0.50 m. These arameters result in a maximum water level of approximately 2.99 m during breaking wave conditions at high tide. Therefore, the minimum recommended seawall elevation is 2.99 m relative to MSL.
