Abstract

This study aims to optimize the utilization of stainless steel pipe raw materials in the automotive exhaust production process at PT Elysium Autotech. The main problem faced by the company is excessive raw material purchasing and material leftovers caused by the absence of a structured material planning system. The Material Requirements Planning (MRP) method is applied to determine raw material requirements based on demand data, Bill of Materials (BOM), initial inventory, and a weekly planning horizon. The Lot for Lot (LFL) lot sizing technique is used to minimize ending inventory. The results show that the implementation of MRP can determine a more accurate purchasing quantity, namely 1,050 pipes of Ø 2.5 inch for Innova exhausts and 1,176 pipes of Ø 3 inch for Fortuner exhausts. The resulting ending inventory is relatively small and stable, indicating effective material planning. In terms of cost, the application of MRP provides cost savings of IDR 178,500,000 per month or IDR 2,142,000,000 per year. Therefore, MRP is proven to be effective in improving raw material efficiency and reducing inventory costs.
