Abstract

This design is based on the importance of using metal forging machines in metal processing. One of the advantages is to speed up the metal forging process. Currently, the forging process still uses a lot of human labor, so the metal forging results are few and a lot of energy is drained. Therefore, the idea arose to design this metal forging machine that would help production more results. The working principle is that it is moved using an electric motor: This design aims to find out the stages of making metal forging machines. The production of metal forging machine manufacturing and the result or performance of metal forging machine manufacturing. The type of design used is the design of a forging machine that is moved by an electric motor. Collection of design data through several methods such as literature studies, direct surveys to the location (observation) and consultation or guidance from several related parties. The design stages carried out include drawing manufacturing techniques, collecting tools and materials, assembling manufacturing procedures, and testing the metal forging machine. The design results obtained are metal forging machines with a hammer forging system that is driven using an electric motor, making it easier to forge metal. After studying in detail, the metal forging machine frame that is made can support and hold all other metal forging machine components and the construction of the frame is strong and sturdy after testing the tool using steel plate workpieces. The metal forging machine can forge quickly. In addition, the operated tools are very helpful, strong and sturdier. From the calculations, the machine can produce a forged force (F) of 235.5 (N), with a power (P) provided by the electric motor, of 3.5 (Hp with a rotational speed of 1500 (rpm) able to rotate the 2nd pulley with a diameter of 30 (cm) to a speed of 450 (rpm) which is able to move the swing arm up and down to lift and drop the forging hammer (hammer forging) through the leaf spring. The spring constant is 11,200 N/m.
