Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has transformed the way society accesses information, including traffic-related updates. Instagram, particularly its Reels feature, has emerged as a fast and visually engaging medium for information dissemination. This study aims to examine the influence of Instagram Reels content on fulfilling the traffic information needs of followers of the @InfoKrian account, a local Instagram page focused on news in the Krian area of East Java. A quantitative explanatory research design was employed, with data collected through a questionnaire distributed to 100 respondents who actively follow @InfoKrian. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression via SPSS 23. The findings indicate a significant relationship between Reels content and the fulfillment of traffic information needs, where engagement indicators such as likes, comments, shares, and view counts positively influence affective, cognitive, personal, social, and escapist information needs. These results highlight the effectiveness of Instagram Reels as a tool for delivering timely and interactive local information. The study contributes to a broader understanding of social media’s role in community-based information dissemination.
