Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana unsur-unsur sejarah diperkenalkan dalam film “Mencuri Raden Saleh” melalui penyajian visual, dialog, dan konstruksi naratif dalam kemasan film modern. Fokus penelitian diarahkan pada representasi lukisan bersejarah “Penangkapan Pangeran Diponegoro,” sosok Raden Saleh sebagai tokoh seni nasional, serta isu manipulasi artefak sejarah yang muncul dalam alur film. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik analisis isi Klaus Krippendorff, yang mencakup proses unitizing, sampling, coding categories, reduksi data, inferensi makna, hingga penyusunan narasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa film mengemas sejarah dengan menempatkan artefak lukisan sebagai pusat konflik, memperkenalkan konteks historis melalui dialog singkat namun informatif, serta memanfaatkan visual sinematik modern untuk menegaskan simbol perlawanan, nasionalisme, dan kritik terhadap kolonialisme. Film juga menyoroti isu keaslian artefak sejarah sebagai kritik terhadap pengelolaan warisan budaya di Indonesia. Kesimpulan penelitian menyatakan bahwa “Mencuri Raden Saleh” berhasil berfungsi sebagai media komunikasi sejarah yang efektif, karena mampu menghadirkan unsur historis secara menarik, mudah dipahami, dan relevan bagi generasi muda.
