Abstract

Work life balance is a big challenge for lecturers, especially in the midst of complex and diverse work demands. This study aims to determine the moderating effect of psychological well-being on the relationship between social support and work life balance. The participants in this study consisted of 284 lecturers in Tuban Regency area who were taken using purposive sampling technique. This research instrument uses work life balance, social support and psychological well-being scales that have been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis is using moderation analysis techniques with process macro v4.3 by Hayes. The results of this study showed that psychological well-being has a role in moderating the relationship between social support and work life balance on lecturers (β=0,0041; CI95 [0,0017;0,0065]; SE=0,0012; p=0,0010). The relationship between social support and work life balance on lecturers will be stronger with increasing psychological well-being. This study also shows there is a significant positive relationship from the role of social support (β=0,2547; CI95 [0,2001;0,3092]; SE=0,0277; p=0,0000) and psychological well being to work life balance (β=0,1663; CI95 [0,0997;0,2329]; SE=0,0338; p=0,0000), where each dependent variable is able to predict work life balance on lecturers. The implications of this research are relevant for higher education institutions to design programs and policies that support work life balance, which will contribute to a better quality of education.
